What does a Remedial Massage consultation involve?

 

A consultation with a remedial massage therapist starts with a discussion of your relevant medical history, lifestyle and health issues. Your therapist will create a treatment plan tailor-made for your specific problem. You will be required to remove some items of clothing, as requested, then will get comfortable on the massage table. All areas of the body, except the area being treated will be draped with towels for your comfort and privacy. The pressure applied throughout the massage may be light, moderate or heavy, depending on your particular issue. The therapist will check in with you to ensure that the pressure used is tolerable. The treatment may include a variety of techniques which may include deep tissue massage and passive and active stretching.
Some further stretches that you can do at home may also be suggested.
