Clinical Myotherapy

Clinical Myotherapy is a form of manual medicine which focuses on the assessment, treatment and management of musculokeletal pain and dysfunction caused by muscles, nerves and joints. This can be caused by trauma, overload or misuse of muscles arising from disease or occupational, sporting or recreational activities.

What does a Clinical Myotherapy consultation involve?

A consultation will typically begin with a thorough assessment prior to treatment. This includes history taking of general health and the presenting condition followed by postural evaluation and physical assessment of the affected areas. Treatment then involves one or more of a number of different modalities ranging from soft tissue mobilisation, joint mobilisation, dry needling, cupping, thermal therapy, TENS treatment, electro-needling, corrective exercise and home care and advice.
